Since the safety regulators ceased issuing a number of operator licences,  the onus is now on the business to ensure that an operator of plant and equipment in the workplace is competent.

On the 3rd of September, 24 turf managers – mostly from SE Qld, but some as far away as Mackay, Lismore and Toowoomba – attended a course to enable them to become competency assessors in their workplace.

These 24 Verification of Competency (VOC) Assessors will soon be able to formally verify the competency of a worker before they use plant and equipment. A highly prized qualification in any CV and one that adds value to the profession and to any employer as it will save the business time and money and significantly reduce environment and safety risk.

Given we are now moving into the busy summer season, it is likely epar will run another course for interested people possibly in May next year.  If you are interested please contact Matt Holmes on 0404996315 or matt@epar.com.au for more details.
